With a new album due out May 1, provocative West Coast neo-psychedelicists The Brian Jonestown Massacre are gearing up for a hefty world tour that will cover four continents over the spring and summer.
The roadwork gets going with a two-week West Coast romp that includes an April 29 headlining appearance at the Psych Fest in Austin, TX, and is followed by a seven-date run in Australia. In June, the outfit heads to Europe for a month-long jaunt that includes festivals in Spain and Scotland, and culminates with a Jul. 11 appearance in Tel Aviv, Israel. Later in July, the psychedelic collective returns stateside for an East Coast tour with confirmed dates to be announced soon.
The Brian Jonestown Massacre got its start in the early 1990s in San Francisco and has gone through dozens of personnel over the course of its two-decade history, with frontman Anton Newcombe being the only consistent member. The outfit's upcoming album, "Aufheben," was recorded at Newcombe's studio in Berlin, Germany. Original BJM member Matt Hollywood plays on the record, which also features Will Carruthers (Spacemen 3), Constantine Karlis (Dimmer) and Thibault Pesenti (Rockcandys), plus vocal performances in Finnish by Eliza Karmasalo.

Along with the Dandy Warhols, the Brian Jonestown Massacre were the
subjects of the 2004 documentary film, "Dig!," which captured the
love-hate relationship between the two bands and won the Documentary
Grand Jury Prize at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival.
